ParagonX9 tribute-ish

Posted by guiltlesslmfao - July 12th, 2022

Hai again, so, new song out now! (well, a two week old recording I guess)

I forgot what exactly inspired me to dew it, but I decided to make a quick ditty with old school ParagonX9 2003/2004 vibes to it. Now I as it was made on GarageBand, I wouldn’t normally release it as an official track, but I feel like it deserves to be on Newgrounds as ParagonX9 is a legendary artist in the NGAP community. (and besides I think GarageBand and Reason have a similar system)

Here’s the track, enjoy!!!

lmao, track is awesome. I started out in Garage Band back in 2006, but have used Reason since 2008 and I'll be the first to say that there is very little in common with the two programs. With the right finesse you can program some excellent stuff in old GB if you know how but Reason's synths offered me way more customization and the fidelity units were much more useful. I wonder how GarageBand navigates in 2022. Was Paragon also a Reason user? A lot of people tend to leave Reason behind for other programs eventually but it's always the artist and that matters more than the apparatus.

Yeah, I do remember him mentioning that he used Reason a few times after moving on to Cubase. As for the awkward comparison I think I kinda mixed up its similarities with Logic and GarageBand as those ARE developed by Apple and as a producer who’s only used the aforementioned, Fl Studio, and Cakewalk I always found a weird relation with Logic and Reason as both happen to be somewhat similar concepts actual definition wise.

GarageBand is cool and all with some unique sounds and I sometimes find it easier to make sounds I like which are hard for me to replicate anywhere else. However, for the past year or so it’s just my conscious that doesn’t allow me to use it to compete fully-fleshed songs, so what I usually end up doing is if my laptop is to no avail (like in this case I was away on vacation) I’d make a demo or WIP on GarageBand and then make the final product either on CakeWalk as midi so I can play around with the composition or FL Studio to adapt it for a release. FL Studio is way better though cause it has all these cool plugins each with a vast library of unique sounds which I progressively learn to play around with (and I’ve so far used a good 10-15 different plugins for my songs)

TLDR: Yeah, I have a weird and specific musical process.
